Female German football coach Imke Wubbenhorst

A female manager in charge of a team of men brilliantly closed a journalist who asked if her players would have to cover up in the emergency room saying: "We chose the team on the size of the penis."

Imke Wubbenhorst became the first female coach in the top five divisions of German football last month.

The former 30-year-old international German was enrolled by the BV Cloppenburg group, which was threatened with relegation, and was tasked with keeping it in the fifth grade.

His historical appointment has prompted a reporter to ask if she should wear a mermaid, so that the players in the guard room hear her coming and put some trousers.

Which Wubbenhorst replied: "Of course not, I'm professional, I choose (my team) the size of the penis."

Wubbenhorst has been forced to fight sexism since joining Cloppenburg.

An assistant coach who is part of the club's former club manager was dismissed for "refusing to take cones for a woman" during training.

Wubbenhorst insists he has no problem setting up his law with his players who have worked as a sports teacher.

"I want to be judged on the athletic show, not on being a woman or a man," Wubbenhorst said.

"I will not have problems with authority (affirmation). I am a teacher."

Cloppenburg is the bottom of the Lower Saxony League and has 12 games to save the season.

Wubbenhorst, who has spent most of his career in the club's female team, knows what kind of challenge he is facing.

"We have only 12 games left to stay in the division. It will be hard work," she said.

"The team wants and has the potential, so we try everything."

Kristian Westerveld, veteran of the team, gave Wubbenhorst full support.

"We are willing as a team to get something in the second half of the season. And we can only do that together.
