UFC Denver: Yair Rodriguez KOs Korean Zombie | Video, reaction

Yair Rodriguez produced one of the most sensational knockouts in the history of the UFC when he shot Chan Sung Jung with just one second.

Rodriguez, aged 26, withdrew from a 4:59 reversed elbow in the fifth round to win the UFC Fight Night 139 main event in Denver.

Jung was literally only a second of victory while he led two of the three judges 'judges' books before being brutally penetrated by the amazing movement.

Korea made the attack with a big left hook, but Rodriguez sank carefully and threw the elbow straight up. He grasped his opponent on the chin, and Jung collapsed on the floor.

Jung apologized for the costly error in a message to his fans on Facebook. "I have no excuse," he wrote. "For all those who have helped me, I am very sorry … thank you … to all those who hate me, congratulations.

"I'm not in a good enough condition to get on a plane, so I'll spend some days in the hospital before I get back to Korea. I'm embarrassed, but I'll see you when I get home.

Jung continues to appear in the spring fights in the UFC's second ballot following the mandatory military service in his country of origin.

He won a featherweight title after dropping Dustin Poirier in 2012, but was completed in four rounds by then-champion Jose Aldo.

After an absence for three and a half years, he eliminated Dennis Bermudez in the first round before spending another 18 months on the sidelines with a knee injury before confronting Rodriguez.

media_cameraThe elbow has heard around the world.

Winner of Mexican expanded its UFC record to 11-2. In a post in Instagram, Rodriguez said: "Thanks to all those who still believe in me! Thanks to @ koreanzombiemma for a war and for the respect given by his team, all my respect and admiration @ufcespanol @ufc Viva Mexico."

It was a classic featherweight fight, with both fighters making powerful blows.

Rodriguez enjoyed the first stages, but the Korean Zombie hit long before the pair thought about doing enough to win the victory in the fifth and final round.

El Pantera linked the record for the latest finish in the UFC history set by Demetrious Johnson against Wilson Reis last year.

There is no doubt that it was one of the most ridiculous ending in an MMA fight ever and the spectators were left gobsmacked by what they witnessed.
