The woman and child killed in the accident on the Alberta central highway

A boy was among two people killed when a car collided with a truck located northwest of Rocky Mountain House, Alta, Wednesday morning, according to RCMP.

The police said the officers were called to an accident on the 756 highway at 11:30 a.m.

"The preliminary investigation showed that a two-occupancy car was heading north on the 756 highway when it lost control and collided with a two-occupant truck in the southern direction," RCMP said on Wednesday evening in a press release.

"Road conditions at that time have been reported to be slippery due to the frozen rain in the area."

The 35-year-old woman driving the car and the four-year-old boy in her car were declared dead on the spot. The police said that both victims were from O'Clock the First Nation.

Two men were in the truck and the RCMP said they were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The police said no charges would be made in connection with the accident.

Rocky Mountain House is located approximately 220 kilometers southwest of Edmonton and about 220 kilometers northwest of Calgary.
