The heat was already in Oregon Higgins and that's why I get a series of diseases that usually grow in summer. Hanta Virus is one of them, and so Sanate Seremi, Rafael Borgoño, reported that the first case of the fourth and fourth season was recorded so far in 2018.
Seremi indicated that the affected person is from the Rengo district, a situation confirmed by the Public Health Institute, being the fourth case of the year. He is a young man of 24 years, becoming the first case of the summer season. The other three cases were recorded between January and March of this year.
In the latter case, Seremi reported that the patient lives in the Lo de Lobo sector and is currently investigating where he would have been infected because he could have been at home or at work. That is why on Friday, Seremi de Salud will contact their relatives and their environment to determine where they were infected and form.
The 24-year-old patient is hospitalized at the Tórax Hospital in Santiago, where he remains stable in its severity.
HOW ARE HANTA CONTAINED?
Infected mouse eliminates the virus through urine, faeces and saliva, and this is transmitted to humans primarily through the respiratory tract. The disease is spread by breathing small drops, fresh or dried, or air contaminated with saliva, urine or excrement of an infected mouse.
Swallow food or water contaminated with urine, faeces or saliva from these rodents.
They have direct contact with the excretions or secretions of infected mice (e.g., touching mice, live or dead, with bare hands, direct contact of wounds with mice or urine, saliva or faeces).
Touch any object where the virus has been deposited (tools, utensils, furniture, clothes) and then bring your hand to your nose, eyes or mouth.
Being bitten by an infected mouse.
There is no evidence of virus transmission by insects, domestic animals or animals. According to Minsal, a case of potential contagion from one person to another was reported in Argentina, although the mechanism of this transmission is unknown.
Respiratory infection occurs in closed places and with the recent presence of mice, so the transmission is rare in open, exposed to wind and sunshine.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Among preventive measures, it should be ventilated for 30 minutes before entering enclosed spaces for a long period of time. After aeration, spray the floor and surfaces with water and chlorine. Then clean and sweep. Keep the outside of the house and store without brush and garbage. Keep the cellars ventilated and neat, with no waste materials. Seal and derive halls and warehouses. Keep food and water away from rodents, always keeping them in tight containers. Avoid rodents entering houses by connecting the holes and cavities into which they can enter. Do not kill foxes, snakes and owls: it protects you from rodents.
Among the preventive measures to avoid contagion for the general population, going to camping and walking, it is advisable to choose clean and free places of bushes and pastures. Use the floor tent, closing and without holes. Store foods in strong, closed containers. Do not leave the vessels and dishes at the reach of mice.
Only follow approved trails. Do not go between bushes and pastures. Do not collect or consume wild fruit.
Store garbage in closed containers, if necessary, bury it and drink only safe water (potable, packaged, boiled or disinfected).
