Infrastructure projects are advancing for the ports of Puerto Williams and Puerto Toro on the island of Navarino
The port infrastructure of the Antarctic province shows significant progress in port works. It is a large multifunctional dock in Puerto Williams that will begin work in 2020. In Isla Navarino there is a ramp in which barges can be docked, as well as medium and small ships that will begin to be built in early 2019. In Puerto Toro , a work is designed that is primarily aimed at getting ferries and small ships to board and land.
The projects are in the budget of the Magallanes Plan announced by President Sebastián Piñera during his visit to the region in October last year. Of the 250 billion to be invested in the region, 100,000 will be for the Antarctic Province.
In total, for these works, about 29 billion pesos will be invested with resources from the regional government and sectoral funds.
