St. Vincent returns and hip hop prevails; from March 29 to March 31, at the San Isidro Hippodrome
Lollapalooza 2019 is already under way. Between March 29th and March 31st, the sixth Argentinean edition of the Perry Farrell meeting will take place, spread all over the world, away from its headquarters, the North American city of Chicago.
After waiting and anxiety, eventually the local festival producer, DF Entertainment (who develops the event with Perry Farrell, C3 Presents and William Morris Endeavor)
announced yesterday who are the artists who will integrate the production line next year. And the first reading shows a strong presence of artists in hip-hop culture, which confirms and emphasizes the trend of the latest edition. In addition, local trap representatives will be playing and in large numbers.
There will be those from the head
American rapper Kendrick Lamar, winner of this year's Pulitzer Prize for his excellent album DAMN; Arctic Monkeys, the English band in Los Angeles, who returned to the stage with a work celebrated by the international press and debuted between us in 2014; Twenty One Pilots, which released its fifth album, Trench, which will definitely place it in the pop and rock elite (it will be her return to Lolla Argento after her debut in 2016) and Lenny Kravitz, who returns to the country after seven years and at a wonderful moment, hand in hand with his famous Vibration Rift.
The first line of the festival does not end here. The very large number of the stage hip hop: Post Malone, which I have seen with the Beerbongs & Bentleys disc, which I have liked and succeeded, which contains the irresistible and controversial "Rockstar" hit. In addition, balladist Sam Smith, who earned an Oscar in 2016 for his song Writin's on the Wall and a "big summer leap" by Electronic Dance Music (EDM), the Dutch producer and DJ Tiësto.
What follows in the Lollapalooza grid is so varied and powerful that it will satisfy most (and many minorities). In 1975, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, DJ Steve Aoki (Latin Grammy Award-winning entertainer), rapper Macklemore, Fito Páez (by the way, winner of a Grammy Latin for Best Rock), Veloso (Caetano Moreno, Zeca and Tom), the latest winner of the Latin Grammy, Jorge Drexler; New York Interpol (another return) and Seattle's e-mail duo.
The Lollapalooza Argentina series is complemented by Geta van Fleet, Vicentico, Years & Years, Rosalia (one of the breakthroughs of the season), Mona Jiménez (to reproduce the effect of "Free Women" this year), Zhu, Snow Patrol, Scissors , Saint Vincent (another very anticipated return), Juana Molina, Kshmr, Don Diablo, Troye Sivan, Bring Me Horizon, Lali, Jorja Smith, Cazzu, Khea, Portugal Man, Rufus du Sol, RL Grime, Fisher, Kungs , Valentino Khan, American saxophonist Kamasi Washington, Clairo, Lany, C. The keys to a unique festival

The sixth Lollapalooza Argentina will have the same headquarters of the five predecessors, Hipodromo de San Isidro. It is estimated at 100,000 attendance each day.

From hip hop to trap
Hip hop and electronic music are the two main protagonists of the festival headquarters, Chicago, and most of its meetings in South America and Europe. If the hip hop culture landed hard in 2018, next year will double the bet with Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone and Maclemore at the helm. On this side will be the scene of the great trap, with Neo Pistea, Cazzu, Khea, Seven Kayne, Dak1llah and Omar Varela.
It is difficult to relate the festival to a style, a trend or a musical culture; Lollapalooza is rather an entertainment festival where different musical streams are represented to a greater or lesser extent. Jazz, for example, that in 2019 he will have the stellar presence of American saxophonist Kamasi Washington and Escalandrum.
Tiësto and EDM
The Dutch DJ, historically, will be the head of the electronic scene that will have his own place at the Perry Stage. Also, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Odesza, among others.
Rosalía and Troye Sivan
The festival functions as a thermometer of the promises, phenomena and artists of the moment. Spaniard Rosalía, who added flamenco to her flamenco bag and a very good taste for pop songs, fulfills these conditions. The same goes for Troye Sivan, who has left the pop queer scene to establish himself among the world's strong promises these days.
The local rock soloist
If in previous years they went through Lollapalooza devoted to local rock, such as Pedro Aznar and Leon Gieco, it was expected that there would be another representative in the 2019 grid. And there are two: Fito Páez and Vicentico, who after returning with Los Fabulosos Cadillacs resumes their personal profile.
Where the rock lives
It looks like a minority, but it's very noisy. The rock will be well represented by Annie Clark (St. Vincet), the obscure New Yorkers of Interpol, our "Barbie Recanati and Greta Van Fleet, among others.
The sounds of the world
From the Veloso family (Caetano with Moreno, Zeca and Tom) to Jorge Drexler and La Mona Jiménez, local flavors will also be playing.
Tickets are already available in the "final price", the last sales stage,
