They discover a planet outside the solar system that has water in the atmosphere

Astronomers from a US observer have discovered that the gigantic planet HR8799c, 179 light years from the solar system, has water and methane in the atmosphere. Current technology does not allow life to be determined on its surface, despite favorable planetary conditions.

Keck Observers, located near the Mauna Kea idle volcano in Hawaii, announced in the Astronomical Journal that by studying the exoplanet images obtained in 2008 and the light analysis technology reflected by that body, the composition of the atmosphere was determined .

The proportion of gas is propitious to support the hope that there was life on that planet, but many factors, such as temperature, enter the dance, which is still unknown.

The body system that rotates around the star HR8799, found in Pegasus constellation, is composed, in principle, of four huge planets, including HR8799c.

Dimitri Mawet, the NASA astronomer and co-author of the discovery, explained that a combination of adaptive optics was used in telescopes to correct the effect that renews the images of the Earth's atmosphere, along with a high-resolution "light-analyzing equipment" resolution.

"This type of technology is exactly what we will use in the future to look for signs of life on Earth-like planets. We have not achieved this goal yet, but we are going in that direction," Mawet said.
