Astronomers discover strange four-galaxies – Science Quest – cnBeta.COM

Our solar system has one star and eight planets. But the situation in other galaxies could be much more than that, and there will be two or three stars going around them.An astronomy team has recently observed a galaxy of four stars hidden at 146 light-years away. The galaxy was called HD 98800.from

Astronomers have discovered it through the Atacama Large Millimeter Array in Chile. Radio telescopes are the key to discovering this galaxy, as these stars are surrounded by protoplanetary discs.

It is reported that the protoplanar disc refers to the dust rings and gases that occurred in the early stages of the galaxy before the formation of the planet. Eventually, dust and gas will collapse in planets, but before that, the disk would prevent most of the light from escaping from the galaxy.

However, radio waves can get into the dust. Based on this principle, scientists used radio telescopes to find four independent stars in the dust. The four stars are two pairs of twins, one in the center of the galaxy, and the other in a track that is a few billion miles away. According to astronomers, the outer pair is called Aa and Ab, and the central pair is called Ba and Bb.

The four star star system is very weird in itself, but what really makes this strange galaxy is the protoplanar disc. In most systems, the protoplanar disc is aligned with the main star. In our own solar system, for example, all planets and asteroids operate on the same plane as the sun. This is not the case for HD 98800, where the protoplanar disk formed by dust and gas forms a right angle to the central plane of the stars.

The star system is the first time people have discovered a binary system with such vertical discs, suggesting that there are still many unknown phenomena in the universe waiting to be discovered. In addition, protoplanetary discs usually reach planets, which means that planets orbiting around a binary system at different strange angles are likely to appear. Usually, we do not seek these strange angles when searching for planets, so this suggests that humans can explore such planets in the future.
