For Czech readers, the popular British author Simon Mawer baptizes his latest novel in Prague Prague Spring. In the Dobrovský bookstore on Wenceslas Square, the book from the stormy events of 1968 will also be signed by interested parties.
Mawerovo Prague Spring has enjoyed favorable reviews in Britain. The optimism of 1968 and his sudden end after the invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops map the author with the eyes of the British trio, who are in a stormy period in Prague. The Czech publisher characterizes the book as a clever, compelling and sensual novel that confirms that Mawer is one of the most talented contemporary writers of historical spy fiction.
Mawer has dealt with Czech realms in several of his books. His novel Glass room inspired by the turbulent fate of the famous Tugendhat villa in Brno, he won the 2009 Book Award winning finalist award, which is a prestigious award for Anglo-American Literature. In the spring of 2019, the film should be premiered by director Julius Sevcik, who also published in Czech.
In the Czech environment, besides Glass room of Prague Spring is also the story of Mawer's earlier novel Mendel's dwarf. It tells the story of the founder of modern genetics, the priest and the abbot of the Augustinian monastery Johann Gregor Mendel. He became more familiar with his character even during his first visit to the Czech Republic more than two decades ago; Czech readers then ride repeatedly. Take Mendel's dwarf was nominated for the Man Booker Prize.
