The purple color, which covered the Spilberk in Brno, is a symbol of brave kings and warriors and, therefore, of premature babies. Only in the South Moravia region over 600 are born each year. The number of premature babies is increasing due to assisted reproduction and increased motherhood. Among the most threatened are first-born for more than 35 years.
Premature babies require special care by doctors. "This problem is indeed very challenging in all respects, it is required for the patients themselves, for the parents, for our staff and is extremely demanding both in terms of time and instrumentally and economically" , said Ivo Borek, the head of the Neonatology Clinic of the University Hospital in Brno.
In the care of premature birth, doctors in Brno are trying to involve mothers as well. Perhaps by bathing, reading fairy tales, or by sucking raw milk containing large amounts of antibodies, the baby will help build immunity.
Children are in a special room in the room. "First, it is an incubator, then a fan that is hidden beneath the foil and helps ventilate the newborn. The third major component is the monitoring system," Borek explained. Other systems are connected to the bed, such as infusions.
