"Arecymbo" message from the current Google doodle – Newsbeast

today doodle of Google reminds something from … a third-party contact, and that's because it's dedicated to the "Arecymbo Message." What exactly is this "message"?

It is a radio signal that was issued by the Areji Observatory in 1974, containing basic information about humanity and planet Earth in coded form. The purpose of the show was to communicate with another alien civilization that would receive and decrypt the message. The message was broadcast in the direction of the area known as Heracles' spherical cluster, at a distance of 25,000 light years.

The broadcast of the message, as mentioned by the relevant entry on Wikipedia, was only one time as part of the telescope renovation celebration at the Arejimbo Observatory on November 16, 1974.

The message consists of 1,679 bits (210 bytes), which were transmitted at a frequency of 2,380 MHz with a frequency modulation at 10 Hz of the transmission power of 1,000 kW. Figures 1 and 0 of which the message is in its binary format have been transmitted with a frequency shift at a rate of 10 digits per second. Total transmission lasted less than 3 minutes.

However, because it will take 25,000 years to reach its destination (and another 25,000 years for a possible answer), Areismo's message was more of a demonstration of human technology than a real attempt to start a conversation with strangers. In fact, the M13-targeting stars will no longer be in that position when the message arrives, but the message will eventually reach the center of the cluster of galaxies.

The message was created by Frank Drew, in collaboration with Carl Sagan and others. There are 7 sections in the top-down message:

– Numbers 1 to 10 (white squares)

– The atomic numbers of the elements of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and phosphorus. These elements are DNA components (purple squares)

– Mathematical formulas for sugars and bases in DNA nucleotides (green squares)

– The nucleotide set in DNA, and the representation of the double-stranded DNA structure (white and blue)

– The graphical representation of a man in the dimensions (height) of an average man and of the human population on earth (red, blue / white and white squares)

– Graphical display of the solar system indicating where the message comes from (yellow)

– The representation of the Areizum Observatory and the dimensions of the broadcasting radiant (purple, white and blue).
