Two militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), including an army deserter, were killed Tuesday in a meeting with the security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.
Security forces launched a search and search operation in the Safanagri area, Zainapora in southern Kashmir, on Sunday morning, after having credibly contributed to the presence of militants in the area, a spokesman for the police said.
He said the hidden militants fired at the forces' search party that the search operation was happening,
The spokesman said the forces were revolting, which led to a meeting in which two militants were killed.
The killed militants were identified as Mohammad Idrees Sultan alias Chota Abrar, resident of Safanagri Shopian and Amir Hussain Rather alias Abu Sobaan, resident of Awneera Shopian.
"They were affiliated with HM terrorist equipment and were involved in terrorist attacks on security institutions and many other civilian atrocities in the area," he said.
The spokesman said the sultan was an Indian army deserter and joined military lines in April this year.
"There was no collateral damage during surgery," he said.
