Netanyahu meets with heads of regional councils in the south

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, Chief of Staff of IDF, Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot and IDF headquarters head Herz Halevi met on Thursday evening with heads of local authorities in the Gaza envelope from the Prime Minister of Jerusalem.

The meeting was attended by Sdot Negev Regional Council head Tamir Idan, Mayor Sderot Alon Davidi, Head of Regional Council Eshkol Gadi Yarkoni, Head of Merchavim Shai Hajaj Regional Council, Hof Ashkelon Council Head Yair Farjun and his successor Ofir Liebstein.

During the talks, the Premier, Head of State and Head of the South Command presented the military efforts against the terror in Gaza.

In addition, the discussion focused on promoting a resilience program for Israeli communities located near the Gaza Strip for the years 2019-2020 worth 500 million Shekels.

The program, which will be submitted to the government for approval in the coming weeks, will include strengthening emergency medicine, informal education, social welfare services, and providing security grants to authorities to help them run their work. In addition, the program will provide additional allowances for farmers in the region, subsidies for day care centers and much more.
