In November, not only in Lithuania, but also in Europe, it is intended to prevent prostate cancer. This year, the three organizations reunified for the common goal of raising the issue of men talking even harder and involving as many as possible citizens in active prostate cancer care activities. One of the most important is the November Uava Runaway event for men, not just for men.
Prostate cancer in Europe is diagnosed today at 450,000. men. The number of symptoms of prostate cancer diagnosed in Lithuania is up to 500. Incipient clustering does not show clear symptoms, so men are encouraged to carry out a prostate-specific antigen test (PSA) even when they feel great.
Pauls Rakštys, the head of the Society for the Treatment of Prostate Cancer, believes that prostate cancer is becoming more and more diagnosed at the youngest age and therefore not only older men should be concerned about their health.
"Previously, because of this disease, it was necessary to check it at age 50. Today, prostate cancer research should be done over 40 years, especially for those whose family members have cancer," says P Rakštys.
Every year, in November, various activities are being organized to encourage people to perform PSA tests, not to be afraid to speak loud about prostate cancer and urge their health to care for their loved ones.
This year, three organizations – the Society for Prostate Cancer, Bearded November and the US Fugue – have joined forces to raise awareness of prostate cancer prevention this year.
The latter organized the last men's event in November for the fourth consecutive year, which began with the race of friends and grew to an annual tradition involving more than one hundred participants.
"In March, marathons are over, people move less, so I thought it was a great time to grow rabbits and mustaches and spend the time to run on the last Sunday of the month. you can find time to get to the event, spend an hour and visit a doctor the next day, "says Modest Bacys, one of Usa Running's organizers.
The interest for this event increases every year. This year's route is being prepared at the Botanical Garden of Vilnius University, where on 25 November. It is expected to attract 500 participants. The initiative is sponsored by pharmaceutical companies Ipsen and Sanofi.
Not only men, but women and children are invited to the Ufa Running event. "We are waiting for everyone who can spread a message about prostate cancer prevention in their relatives." After all, women and children can urge their family to do research, "says Bacys.
