While most of the other Android smartwats are running on a two-year Qualcomm chip, Fossil's latest model is the first smartwatch to be accessed for the new Snapdragon Wear 3100, a more efficient chip that ensures power users will not be out of the battery end of the day.
Shortly after the launch of the Montblanc 2 Summit, which includes the Snapdragon Wear 3100 for just over $ 1,000, Fossil unveiled its new model at a quarter of the price with the same battery-saving technology.
Most current smartwats will struggle to survive more than a day of hard use involving GPS tracking and heart rate monitoring.
But for anyone who forgets the charger, the 3100 chip will turn into a special way that manages to squeeze two days of base time from the last percentage of the battery.
The sport comes in six colors and matches a large number of straps with lots of styles.
Judging by size, Fossil Sport also will not surface on the skinnier hands, which has been a problem for the usual smartwatch, designed largely for male carriers.
Fossil says the sport has a thickness of 12 mm, not much higher than an average analog clock, while the face diameter is 41mm or 43mm compact.
As with most new models, Sport offers NFC, which allows users to pay their watch in countries that accept Google Pay. – dpa
