SINGAPORE: Anwar Ibrahim once again claimed to have a good relationship with his former nemesis Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
The PKR-elected president-elect relationship with Mahathir was a popular topic every time he attended an international event and was no different at the Singapore Summit in 2018 recently.
I was close to him. I mean very close. Then came one of the most fought battles in Malaysia, "said former Deputy Prime Minister, quoted by Bernama.
Answer a question from Haslinda Amin, Chief International Correspondent, Bloomberg Television, about his relationship with Mahathir.
Anwar was referring to when he was dismissed from the government and then condemned for sodomy.
"But we managed to solve (our differences). We say," We have to work together to save the country. "That was the reason and I continued to hire him," he said.
He was in Singapore to speak at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on "Looking for Malaysia for Democratic Responsibility."
The prime minister also said that he and Mahathir will discuss weekly.
Anwar, who was recently elected as a deputy at Port Dickson, said he made it very clear that Mahathir should have the space to do what he wants.
"I will only support. This understanding seems to be going well," Bernama said.
Mahathir is in second position as Prime Minister after Pakatan Harapan's victory in May 9th.
"True, and for his credit, we returned to old times when we chase each other and bring back the wonderful memories of the past. We try to remove the unpleasant side," Anwar added.
