An amazing show and a musical adventure to experience. / Repro Photos DR
For the nineteen years that the group filmed, the Hilight tribe crosses the borders with Live Trance, crossing trance music, licking electronic effects and roots of world music. The combo of five musicians on stage and a sound engineer began a tour in March 2018, which will end in India in December.
The tribe made a stopover in Agen, Florida, on November 17, at 21:00, and plans to use its communicative energy to create an osmosis with the public.
A natural trance, striking, without the need for illicit substances. A truly exceptional show and an extraordinary musical adventure.
Interview with Ludo, one of the founding fathers of the group, who lives in northern Ibiza as two other members of the tribe. The Combo also happens twice a year in Ibiza, including Las Vegas's famous hippie market.
How do I define my musical flow?
It's dynamic "Natural Trance". He is a sportsman on stage! We all play about twenty traditional instruments. String instruments and percussion instruments around the world, such as djembes, didgeridoo, congas, sitar, dungchen … But with drums, bass and guitar. In our songs, we deal with ancient themes, tribes from West Africa, but they can be andalusian accents, influences of Shaivite India, Sioux Indian culture … Each piece has a specific culture of exploration, such as the drums of the Lakota Indians . And we join our compositions and arrangements, new technologies and electro sound. Styles are blended between current and tribal music. Each song has its own universe. The idea is to restore emotion to the public.
Have you removed all these lands to feed deeply on these cultures?
I traveled, but some musicians came to us. For each album as the last "Temple of Light" or for each title, we try to enjoy cultures, learn the language.
Can you talk about mixing music to define the mixture of influences?
Let's say at first we found the world music (the world music) incarnated by Peter Gabriel and his Senegal and Pakistani musicians. But the difference is that our time producer, Jean-Marc Landau, who helped us a lot, encouraged us to add electro effects, influences of the world, infusing our own sounds. He was the one who made us discover Ibiza. We need to know that we play everything on stage. There is no computer or sampler.
Trance has a connotation of planning and hypnotics?
There has always been the fact that it is among the Celts through their holes, the drum-driven African trance and voodoo rituals. She spoke during pagan feasts. Then the hippies left San Francisco in 1968 for Europe. The psychedelic movement has emerged. In India, the Trance Goa celebrations were born. An effervescence after the Woodstock effect, then the children of the old hippies released on the edge of the current techno and the house, "psytrance".
Our natural trance is inspired by the contemporary world and these older worlds. But we remain humble compared to the musicians who are big names in world music. The instruments that symbolize the most revised culture are mixed in Salvador by Bahia, Dakar or Mali.
Is it a visual and visual show?
Yes, the show is carried by new musicians, but also by the lighting technician, the technicians call and light. The whole group is merged into a true dance of performance, songs and effects, with a rhythmic sequence of plays. A true auditory and visual journey!
Have you shot abroad?
Yes, in Japan, Morocco, United States, Sweden, India, but also as part of this tour in Romania, Hungary and Israel. But especially all over France and all its corners. I played at several festivals. Even if initially everything starts from Brittany. We have become known for this region. Our distributor is Breton.
Some data shows completely, what is your audience profile? Nostalgic May 1968, young ravers?
I have attracted many generations of all genres and styles. Our message is listened to by free people, travelers, dreamers, those who live in an alternative way, even "strange control" and 15-25 years who know our words and yet have little reference about the 70s.
Do you have a new album in preparation or an idea of its color?
We're working on the songs, but we have to finish this tour before. We would like to explore the world of Maasai's East Africa.
