BILTHOVEN (ANP) – Patients may have serious bowel problems years after they have placed a gastric band, observes the RIVM Reporting Center and the Implant Research Center.
According to the Institute of Health, extensive research is needed in patients with complaints to determine the exact cause. "It is important that patients with abdominal pain report to their doctor that they have a gastric band, even if this gastric band has been placed years ago," according to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.
According to the researchers, the small intestine may become embarrassed by the gastric band snake years after placement. This can seriously impede the passage of the intestine. Patients with complaints did not always have severe abdominal complaints. They were mild and recurrent, according to RIVM.
As a result of increasing obesity, more and more stomach ablation procedures have been practiced in recent years, including the application of a stomach band.
