Tuberculosis in Leiden is no exception: "Thirty people get sick every year"

LED –
In Leiden and surrounding, thirty people become tuberculous each year, some of whom are contagious. That's what a spokesman for GGD Hollands Midden says. It was announced on Tuesday that a student from MBO Rijnland was infected with the disease. The student would have the contagious, open form of tuberculosis.

In the Netherlands, 800 people a year receive the tuber, says GGD spokesman Hollands Midden. Approximately one third of these have infectious forms. Therefore, the disease occurs everywhere in the Netherlands with 1 out of 17,000 people.

Symptoms of tuberculosis are general complaints that can also occur in many other syndromes. As a result, the disease is often difficult to recognize. The most common symptoms in the early stages of tuberculosis are night sweats, fatigue, fever, loss of appetite and weight loss. People with pulmonary tuberculosis usually have complaints about cough for longer periods of time (more than three weeks) and sometimes cough a bloody mucus.

It's not known how to work with the student

The school does not want to say anything about the pupil's private life in the Bétaplein area. Also, it is not known whether it is a boy or a girl and in which class the student is.
