The Consumer Defense Association (DECO) today revealed 35 complaints from NOWO customers in the face of the lack of Sport TV, which received only two days ago, without receiving a prior notice. "For many, access to this channel was considered essential at the time of joining the contract," says Deco, who will warn Anacom of the situation.
After contacting the company, customers were informed that if they terminated the contract, they could be penalized for violating the loyalty period. As a form of compensation, NOWO suggests these customers to join other services or channels without additional costs.
According to Deco, "this situation calls into question the legitimate rights and interests of consumers because contracting this channel as an additional service was essential in the interest of contracting with the operator and therefore the consumer can not be harmed if you choose to cancel the contract.
The Association also recalls that the amendment to the Electronic Communications Act states that "any change in the contract shall be communicated to the consumer and, if he does not accept it, may terminate the contract without being penalized".
Last week, the sports channel interrupted the show to the NOWO operator. The game would be the operator's refusal to apply the new conditions imposed by Sport TV, which "is considered unfair, inappropriate and out of touch with the reality of the market." The channel was defended, declaring that there is a debt due at the end of the previous contract to be settled.
