Firefighters save the horse in the aqueduct in Arcos de Valdevez: "The life of the firefighters is not even easy"

Arcos de Valdevez has approved a budget of nearly 28 million euros for 2019 plus one million as of 2018, the mayor of Lusitania said today.

Speaking about Lusa, João Manuel Esteves said that the plan, approved by the majority of the PSD (six elements), "is based on community funding," and said the document "will privilege people, families and business investment."

Arcos de Valdevez's activity and budget plan, worth 27,863,300 euros, was approved on Friday with the vote against the only element of the opposition in the executive, the PS counselor, Dora Brandão.

João Manuel Esteves explained that "human resource qualification will be the best bet of the municipal executive in 2019, strengthening the social action school, awarding scholarships and re-skilling school equipment."

The Social-Democrat minister said the document also provides "support for the repopulation of the county, providing better solutions for young people to get attractive land and build their homes or rent."

With regard to family support, the mayor said that it was planned to "reduce municipal taxes and taxes and invest in people's quality of life, either by rehabilitating the public space or by services such as water supply and basic sanitation."

João Manuel Esteves also highlighted the "strong commitment to expanding business parks and promoting tourism in the county."

"The development strategy for Arcos de Valdevez is aligned with the European Union and Portugal 2020. We want a more innovative, sustainable, closer, more inclusive and connected municipality," he said.

Contacted by the Lusa agency, PS municipal councilor Dora Brandão deplored the fact that "again, the majority Social Democrat executive issued a document" late and incomplete, without political guidance, only listing revenues and spending. "

According to Mr Alderwoman, the document was issued "by e-mail at the end of the day," the day before the discussion, "when the minimum legal period is 48 hours."

Dora Brandão considered that the income provided in the document "is not strict because it considers values for municipal taxes, namely IMI and IMT, which have not yet been deliberated."

He also condemned the "allocation of funds to parish councils," stating that "the protocols are of the same value, 30,000 euros, for all parishes, regardless of their territory, population and characteristics."

"This damage should be based on population criteria because Arcos de Valdevez is one of the municipalities in the Viana do Castelo district, which has lost more people in recent years," he said, arguing that the document "did not increase the funds support for families ".
