Epic games announced the following acquisition: an American studio has become part of the company Playing tools Radwhich creates tools for developers. The cost of the transaction was not disclosed.
Rad Game Tools technology solutions are used in almost 25 thousand games. The most famous of them are as follows:
- Bink 2 – video codec for games with HDR support and hardware decoding;
- Oodle – tool for fast lossless data compression;
- Telemetry – a set of tools for profiling, adjusting and viewing the performance of the application in real time;
- Grandma 3D – a professional set of tools for developing any 3D applications.
Rad game tools will work on playback, animation, sound and other technologies and enhancements for Unreal Engine. At the same time, the studio will be able to continue cooperation with third parties.
