This is the surprise on the market. The price of 50 kilos of rice has increased from 16 500 CFAF to 18 000 CFAF, an increase in turnover of 1 500 CFAF. Traders have argued in the Mfr broadcasting waves that this increase relates only to fragrant rice whose price per kilogram is 400 CFA.
In households' view, this growth is not surprising, given the financial tensions that the country is currently experiencing. However, they say that this increase does not match, because the fragrant rice is more consumed than the local one. Thus, they ask the government for a fall in the price of scented rice, as this is the most demanded product of Senegalese consumers.
