Telekom Srbija and SES have offered a new DTH (Direct-to-Home)

Press release

Telekom Srbija will offer viewers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro access to the latest content to be broadcast from a key orbital position of 23.5 degrees east of SES. Today, SES announced it has signed a multi-year contract with Telekom Srbija, Serbia's largest telecom operator, which means Astra's multiple transponder service to launch Telekom's latest DTH (Direct-to-Home) platform Srbija, The three countries are starting simultaneously in mid-December.

With the help of the new DTH platform, Telekom Srbija will deliver over 150 channels, of which up to 30 will be broadcast in HD format. All public TV stations in Serbia will also be available through this platform, allowing viewers to have a full selection of content available on the market. Additional channels will be available in the "Free-to-Air" offer.

Spectators will benefit from new technological improvements in their homes. For this service, Telekom Srbija chose "set-top box" receivers with an integrated signal decoding system, and for all who do not have reception equipment, this platform will be available via a small 60-wire antenna cm.

Telekom Srbija, SES's long-term partner in 2011, has transferred the entire channel pack to SES satellites to 23.5 degrees east earlier this year, making sure content reaches the largest possible number of viewers. From this position, SES provides services for nearly 2.9 million DTH platforms in Europe.

"We are very pleased that, together with SES, we are launching a DTH platform of this great importance"Said Marijana Vukašinović, head of the content management service at Telekom Srbija.

"The countries of the former Yugoslavia are a dynamic growth market and they have been the focus of the SES in recent years. We are very pleased to be in a position to strengthen our partnership with Telekom Srbija in this way, said Martin Ornass-Kubacki, vice president of sales for Central and Eastern Europe at SES Video. "The orbital position of 23.5 degrees East is the fastest orbital in Central and Eastern Europe and the territory of the Benelux countries and is therefore a position where many operators across Europe disseminate their content."
