Observations of the Hubble Space Telescope allowed scientists to discover another cosmic mystery and learn what looked like a blue supergy before his recent death.
Star, the image of which is presented above, existed at a distance of 65 million light years from Earth, within the group of young stars in the spiral galaxy NGC 3938.
It exploded as a "supernova" in astronomical terms is almost "yesterday" – in 2017. However, the archival photos of the Hubble Space Telescope allowed them to find out what it looks like in 2007, just before the explosion.
It turned out that the star could have fifty solar masses, and burning occurs at high speed, that is, it was much stronger than our sun.
The star was so hot that he lost his outer layers of hydrogen and helium. After the explosion, the spectral data showed the complete absence of the hydrogen and helium supernova, which allowed astronomers to classify it as an Ic type supernova.
