Hamilton made a good start from the front of the grid but was shut down by Verstappen's super fast Red Bull.

The Dutch finally determined what seemed an insurmountable advantage.

But when he tried to occupy Ocon in lap 44, the Force India driver managed to send him out of the track.

Hamilton went into the lead as Verstappen recovered to remain second.

While he laughed during the ride, he ran away and the Brit managed to resist – he gave the Mercedes Championship in the process.

THE FIRST MAIN BRAZIL, as it happened

Hamilton on the Verstappen / Ocon collision

"I saw it happened and I was not surprised. I soon saw it.

"They did not fight for the same position. Max managed to continue.

"Max is a kind of" go-go "guy, and as often as possible, he erases you.

Hamilton on the title of winning Mercedes builders

"These guys have worked so hard in the last six years, it was an incredible journey.

"That's what I've been working for every day. I've always said it's an honor to lead for them." I was a one-step duck.

"I had problems with the engine, I just want to thank everyone. The team gives me the tools and I do everything I can."

A verstappen who smokes reacts to the breaking of Ocon

"I did everything today. It was an idiot that he pulls out while he's wrapped up.

"I think the race was better than we expected today. The car has worked well.

"The strategy worked well, I'm happy with the second, but we should have won today."

HAMILTON WINS BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIZE

The Briton claims the tenth victory of the season after having held a late charge from Verstappen.

He was lucky that the Dutchman had been forced to go further than Esteban Ocon earlier in the race.

But he showed excellent discipline as his tires deteriorated to the end.

Elsewhere, Raikkonen is third in Ricciardo to claim the final place on the podium.

Mercedes also won the constructors' championship.

68

Maybe we talked too fast. Vertsappen reduced Hamilton's advantage to 1.5 seconds.

Get ready for an incredible ending.

Lap 65

Verstappen will end here.

While he is eating at Hamilton's leadership, he resumes 2.4 seconds, probably will have a big gap.

Lap 63

Ricciardo sets a new fastest tour of 1.11.343

Lap 62

We are approaching critical time in Brazil.

Verstappen is only 2.5 seconds behind Hamilton leader and wins all the time.

He has nine turns to pass.

Lap 59

Ricciardo scrutinizes Bottas's past and is fourth.

Nothing Bottas could do about it – he's been on the books for a while.

Currently Mercedes will continue to be a champion of the manufacturers

Lap 56

Ocon received a 10-second penalty for his clash with Verstappen.

Force India driver is in 14th place.

Lap 55

Hamilton might be ready at the pit while he asks if someone is fighting with the quenches on the radio.

Lap 52

Verstappen approaches Hamilton at an alarming rate for Brit.

He is almost 0.2 seconds faster on the tour and his team says, "Just put the best staff in this second sector, you still have that."

Meanwhile, Vettel stops again and no one knows why. He will return to the seventh, but he will reach the sixth quite quickly.

Ricciardo

Lap 50

Ricciardo ranks eighth and approaches Bottas and is only 0.6s behind Mercedes, who has problems despite the fact that Hamilton is at the forefront.

Verstappen is still approaching the leadership he lost in that bizarre incident.

Lap 45

"What beech idiot", says Verstappen radio.

Red Horror Chief Christian Horner is fuming in the pit – and rightly so.

It was incredible from Ocon and the incident is being investigated.

Verstappen is still faster than Hamilton and his team tells him to calm down.

44

Unbelievable drama here when Verstappen crashes with Esteban Ocon – who fails to get out of the way despite the fact that it was a journey down!

Hamilton goes into the lead, but Verstappen manages to come back to keep second.

Lap 40

Ricciardo enters the quarries that leave Hamilton and Verstappen as the two.

The Dutchman's step is too much for Hamilton as he manages to overcome it and regain its position.

Verstappen also said his tires are much fresher than Hamilton's. Could all this end?

Lap 36

Verstappen hurt and came out in front of Bottas, third. He is behind Hamilton just over a second.

Daniel Ricciardo is the leader of the current race, but has not yet been.

This could be an epic battle between Hamilton and Verstappen.

Lap 34

Disappointment for Nico Hulkenberg, who is forced to retire with a mistake.

He's swallowed over the radio.

31

Verstappen sets up a new fastest tournament and Hamilton is not happy.

– You gotta give me something, I got these guys before me. Tell me what I have to do, "he says.

28

Vettel disappeared and returned to ninth place.

Lap 26

Verstappen – who is still in the pit – has a huge 8.2s advantage over Raikkonen in second place.

Hamilton asks the team if they have lost ground, saying their tires are not feeling well.

However, I tell him he is making gains on the leader.

22

Marcus Ericsson returns after he's out

"I can not do this," he says.

Lap 20

Hamilton talks with his team:

"Box, box, box," they say.

"I have another tour in me," he says.

"No, no, box, box, box," he said.

He goes in, but he's back in just 2.6 seconds.

He comes out behind Romain Grosjean in the seventh, but he does not get confused and passes on to his first attempt.

Bottas was also in and is now on average tires.

18

Raikkonen approached Bottas, fighting on line 6.

It's just a matter of time before he passes.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso seemed to be in the pits. Ferrari is also preparing to cook.

Verstappen flies absolutely and Hamilton will see him in his VIEWS very soon.

He laughed for 0.3 seconds, although Hamilton's own rhythm increases.

Elsewhere, Riccardo was told that Bottas is fighting badly.

"The Mercedes is not very fast at this stage," says engineer Red Bull.

Lap 10

Verstappen is less than half a second behind Bottas, who is on the new tour – and he will make an inevitable step in the next round.

He is on the second point and Hamilton should be worried.

Moment 5

This is the perfect start for Mercedes as Verstappen surpasses Vettel with an incredible late motion.

Now he put his eyes on Bottas – who must increase his rhythm.

His Red Bull teammate, Daniel Riccardo, flew sixth on Charles Leclerc. Amazing things from Red Bull.

5:14 p.m.: Vettel is doing well, but Hamilton and he's on the lead.

Vettel then closes his tires and is overtaken by Bottas, while Raikkonen makes Verstappen's leap in fourth.

We have a two or two Mercedes after Lap 1.

5:00: Marcus Ericsson from Sauber, who is the best sixth on the grid, faces some problems before the race because he has lost some of the speaker.

One of the team's engineers said, "We've lost some of the extractor on the tour, but I hope we'll fix this for the start of the race.

"It might be better, but I hope we can solve it."

4:55 p.m.: Just 15 minutes before we start in Sao Paulo.

Now it is reported that there is a 60% chance of rain so we can be prepared for absolute cracking.

4:46 p.m.: Not long ago, the Mercedes team manager, Toto Wolff, has made Ferrari favorite today. That's what he said before the race.

"I'm on the tire robust for the race and have a disadvantage at first but a big advantage over the first 10 or 15 tours, which in our models looks like a favorite to win."

4:40 p.m.: Incredibly, Hamilton never won a race just after claiming the title.

He won the title four times before the final race of the season.

Can he break that hoodoo today? His individual work could be done, but Mercedes needs his help as he seeks to end the builders' title.

4:35 p.m.: Weather Update – According to forecasts, we are looking at a 50% chance of rain today.

Ferrari and Mercedes look embarrassed and say they have no idea what to do.

4:30: Hamilton may be ending the title of drivers in Brazil – but Ferrari still have the chance to win the constructors' championship.

They have to overtake Mercedes with 13 points today to stop them from claiming the fifth consecutive crown.

That would lead to the final race of the Abu Dhabi season.

4:20 p.m.: A quick reminder of what happened in the qualifications.

Hamilton remained smoker with Sergey Sirotkin after the pair collapsed almost in Q2.

Sirotkin came in inches of Mercedes from Hamilton when he was on a tour while he flew in beside him as he straightened.

And Hamilton had some wise words for his 23-year-old junior.

"Between all the drivers, we all know how to keep our space up until that moment, so in general it was an unrelenting move.

"I was trying to get out of my way, then I got to the corner and slowed down.

"It was kind of weird, it was totally useless because it had a space behind. Finally my lap and lap were not great.

"We hope she can learn from it."

She made a little difference as Hamilton held the top point – and here is how the front end of the top line grid.
