It is the ability of computers to act as if they are intelligent, which means they imitate human intelligence to some extent. Although some skeptical opinions about the impact of artificial intelligence can be found online, scientists say that fear is superfluous. In their opinion, the robots will not rob us, but they will help us and we will facilitate many tasks. Both in homes and in different jobs.
Slovenian scientists have been working with artificial intelligence for more than four decades
In Slovenia, the Jožef Stefan Institute is the leading organization in this field, where research in the field of artificial intelligence began in 1972 and a few years later the Artificial Intelligence Lab was set up. Not long after, they began researching this interesting field at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, where they founded the first laboratory in 1981. Both laboratories worked under the guidance of Prof. Ivana Bratka and later expanded into several research departments, working in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, University of Ljubljana.
According to the SICRIS Information System for Research in Slovenia, there are currently around 30 research organizations active in the field of artificial intelligence, of which the Jozef Stefan Institute still prevails. They have approached things seriously at the universities in Ljubljana, Maribor and Nova Gorica, and the Chemical Institute, and some companies dealing with information and communication technologies.
