Juan Laporta plans to run for Barcelona

Former Barcelona president Juan Laporta said on Tuesday he plans to resume for the Catalan team in the 2021 election.

"I'm going to come back, but I have not made my decision yet," Laporta said at a Beijing conference organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce in China.

"They leave the team on bankruptcy," he said in response to a question about his vision of Barcelona's current administration, led by Josep Maria Bartomio, who defeated him in the 2015 elections.

They do not like transparency, and they need to improve this, "Laporta said.

"The salary and income levels are very high, leaving the club on bankruptcy and this is very dangerous," the former president said.

"They run the club through opinion polls and, in my opinion, do not have a clear example of club management," Laporta said.

The former president has criticized team leadership for transactions, some of which have been described as "ridiculous and useless investments," as well as player development through the youth sector.

Laporta stressed the need to "restructure the Academy (La Massia) to produce players who might be stars in the future."
