Study: Zinc protects against aging

If zinc is added to chocolate, tea and coffee, it limits the process of "oxidative stress" associated with aging and low life expectancy, according to a recent study by researchers at the University of Erlingen-Nuremberg.

Oxidative stress is defined as the growth of oxidizing substances in the cell that causes more aging diseases, a number of cancers, diabetes, hypertension and arteriosclerosis, as well as degenerative neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. Researchers have found that zinc can activate an organic molecule in the human body that helps prevent oxidative stress when taken with natural ingredients found in coffee, tea and chocolate.
