Flu influenza warning for people with long-term health problems Wales

[ad_1]

People with long-term health problems in Wales are warned that they are at risk of not vaccinating against flu.

Last year, only half of people eligible for a flu vaccine received one.

Public Health Wales warns people with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and kidneys are at higher risk of complications if they captures the flu.

People living with chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and moderate to severe asthma are seven times more likely to die from influenza than those without health.

Vaccines are available free of charge to those with long-term health conditions. Chief of Nursing Officer for Wales, Jean White, warns that flu can make conditions worse.

If you have a long-term or chronic health condition, flu can affect you more than other people. There is available protection, and the annual flu vaccine is the best way to prevent your catching flu, which can make your condition worse or lead to other dangerous complications. Please do not take any risks – make sure you have received the vaccine this year.

– Jean White, Chief Nursing Officer for Wales
